Teacher – The Story Begins
In the past I have created a lot of different art and always loved comics but have never really attempted to do linear illustrations. This project will be my first attempt at storytelling with art. Providing a starting line for the story was my biggest hurdle. First I wanted to leave it as open to going any direction that was possible but to keep continuity. The other considerations were familiarity with the environment, the time period that it occurs in, and trying to keep the line-work as simple as possible. I also realize as time goes by in creating the comic the more refined the look will become. So hopefully my readers will recognize this and hang in there as I get a handle on my style.
In the past I toyed around with the idea of an alien coming to earth and having to deal with everyday life here. ‘Teacher‘ is the extension of the single panel comics I have created. The premise is a cartoonist finds himself becoming friends with this alien. During their time together Teacher retells stories of his exploits and things he has witnessed both on Earth and other places in the galaxy. This allows me the room to provide some adventure, humor, life-struggles and things to think about. As the story develops more ideas will occur to widen the scope of the story.
I am excited and happy to produce this comic and share it with everyone.
